When I suggested to the children that we send it back to Santa's workshop to be repaired, they thought it was awful to suggest such a thing. Sadly when Walter arrived, his "farting" mechanism did not work and when I contacted Hastings, I got no response. They love it just the way that it is, but I didn't get what I paid for. As a librarian, teacher and parent of young children, I was very excited about this plush book character. Maybe a little taboo, a farting dog, but very funny to children.
My friend gave it to her dog, who didn't want to play with it either. Definitely not cute and no laughs. I bought this as a gift for a friend, which I hoped would evoke some laughs. The product looked like it came in a large box of Cracker Jacks: shoddy, under-stuffed, ratty fur.
A great companion. In fact, even his farts don't smell. If you just have to get your child (or yourself) a Farting Dog make Walter the one. He's quiet (even the farts), obedient and never barks.
She likes the book better, but it's a nice addition. A gift for my niece to go along with the book.
Both were purchased "new". There is no opening for changing batteries, and no way to get to the sound box to look for a problem without cutting the toy open. I purchased this toy for my grandson. The second one worked, but only for about one month, and then it stopped working. Since this happened with not just one of these toys, but TWO, it makes me wonder if there is some sort of defect with the toy. The first one that I bought didn't work. I was given a refund, and I purchased a second one from another vendor on eBay.
